A salaried or sessional GP to cover maternity leave for 4-6 sessions commencing May 2024.
Information about the practice
The Practice is an attractive modern architect designed building situated in the heart of the small fishing village of Annalong in Co Down. The area is a popular holiday resort and tourist destination. The practice has 4400 patients and covers a 7-mile radius to include localtowns of Kilkeel, Ballymartin, Annalong and Newcastle. The current building was established in 1991 and has a new extension with six consulting rooms, two treatment rooms and a large and spacious reception and waiting area. There is a separate common room where all staff meet for lunch and a large seminar room used for practice meetings and teaching and training.
The practice GPs work along with a full MDT team consisting of mental health nurse, physiotherapist and social worker complemented by two practice-based pharmacists. We have two practice nurses specialising in chronic disease management and an HCA/phlebotomist. There is also a CBT counsellor attached to the practice.
Old Forge surgery has been a long-established GP training practice since 2009 and hosts undergraduate medical students from QUB in 4 th and 5 th years. The practice has a strong ethos of teaching and has good links with NIMDTA and RCGP. The practice provides joint injections ,minor surgery and IUD fittings.
Recent experience in Minor ops/joint injections and Women’s health would be desirable.
There is a full range of LES and DES and enhanced services and high achievement in QOF points.
A salaried option at BMA negotiated rates would include 6 weeks annual leave, CPD and medical indemnity fees as well as BMA membership.
